Aside from the Super Bowl and the occasional UFC match, I don't generally watch sports, so until a short while ago, I hadn't ever heard of the Wrexham Association Football Club...
Then Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney bought it.
(Wikipedia lists the owners of Wrexham as "RR McReynolds Company LLC"... nicely done.)
Why would these two popular actors want to own a football club?
McElhenney said, "Why Wrexham? Why not!" Thankfully for fans of the club, Reynolds had a more serious answer: "This is the third-oldest club on the planet and we don't see why it can't have a global appeal... We want Wrexham to be a global force."
Fair enough! Besides, Reynolds is no stranger to investing in businesses; he's already the very visible co-owner of Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile... gin, cellphones, and a football club. Honestly, what could go wrong?
How can two popular actors help promote a football club?
By creating something like this...
(NSFW warning: if you're in an office right now, you might want to put your earphones in before you listen to this one, unless your office is okay with some occasional profanity.)
Seriously, is there anything Ryan Reynolds can't sell?
