Context Matters

A Rogers ad proclaiming you can "stream interrupted" should not be aired on a streaming service when doing so means my content stream is being interrupted by the message.


(I wish this was a hypothetical example. It isn't.)


A complicated highway billboard encouraging drivers to pay attention to the road can be a self-defeating communication.


A company that spends millions of dollars communicating its corporate sustainability efforts but then allows its CEO to use a private jet for the 1,000-mile commute between his home and the company's headquarters could surely be putting those dollars to better use.


What you say is only part of the equation.


Context matters too.
